The World’s Oldest Licensed Whiskey Distillery, Bushmills Irish Whiskey, Releases 4 New Whiskey’s – The Limited Release “Private Reserve” Series

The world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, Bushmills Irish Whiskey, is set to release the second round of its Private Reserve Series in January 2025. The new Private Reserve launch will consist of four uniquely casked whiskeys, including two 10 year old and two 12 year old single malts. The intricate process of hand-selecting each individual batch results in exceptional flavor profiles with a distinctive taste profile for each special expression.

  • Bushmills 10 Year Old Amarone Cask Finish (47.3% ABV) – Warm Copper in color, on the nose it boasts distinct rich dark fruits mingled with cinnamon and warming vanilla, with notes of ripe cherry, blackberry, damson and plum mingled with caramelised sugar, chocolate and gentle oak note finished by a mellow rich ripe fruit and a long, dry finish
  • Bushmills 10 Year Old Moscatel Cask Finish (48.5% ABV) – Uniquely Rose Gold in color, on the nose one can get gentle floral notes from this whiskey, followed by caramelized sugar and orange blossom. On the palate is jam sweetness, hints of vanilla developing into ripe mandarin orange, peach and apricots with just a touch of citrus note, finally rounding out with a sweet and fruity, slightly dry, long finish
  • Bushmills 12 Year Old Bordeaux Cask Finish (47% ABV) – Deep Copper in color, the nose of this whiskey showcases ripe plums, wild berries and rich, warm vanilla. The taste is velvety smooth with notes of plum, raspberry, and black cherry mingled with apple, honey, ginger and vanilla, finishing with gentle spices, lemon peel and succulent ripe fruits
  • Bushmills 12 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish (46.4% ABV) – Rich Gold in color, this has notes of sweet honey, warm vanilla, crisp apple on the nose, which intermingles with the taste of rich dried fruit, warm brown sugar, toasted nuts, sweet melon, decadent fudge, and gentle herbs. Finally, it finishes with notes of long warming caramel, hints of anise and sweet fruits

These special expressions are the work of Bushmills’ first female Master Blender, Alex Thomas, who has been aging them under a close eye awaiting them to reach her desired levels of complexity and flavor. Like all Bushmills’ whiskey, they are made with 100% unpeated malted barley and the freshest spring water from the river Bush, then triple-distilled in small batches in traditional copper pot stills for that signature smoothness.

As a pioneer of the Irish whiskey category, Bushmills boasts the finest reserve of rare and aged Irish single malts, continuing to offer consumers unrivaled access to bespoke expressions like these since 1608.

This second collection of Private Reserve marks the beginning of an exciting 2025 for the brand with more new releases to come, and follows a successful past 2 years of releases which boasted the launches of Bushmills 25 & 30 YO, the first Private Reserve Series, and Rare Cask 04, showcasing Bushmills’ quality, aged stock and ability to lead the industry in innovation.

This 2025 release follows the successful inaugural series launch of Plum Brandy, Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Tequila Cask finishes, back in December of 2023, which even earned a coveted inclusion on Whisky Advocate’s annual top 20 list.

The second round of the Private Reserve Series will be available for a limited time only for purchase on Flaviar, Caskers and leading retail stores nationwide in January 2025. Each of the 10 Year Old variants can be purchased at an SRP of $59.99, with the 12 Year Olds available at an SRP of $74.99. Consumers are invited to follow along on Bushmills.com for updates on the launch and information on more exciting, new expressions.
