The first to use Solera aging
Founded in 1872, MATUSALEM® Rum has been known as the rebel of rums that was forced out of Cuba by Castro. In this spirit it was the first, and one of the very few still today, to use the Solera aging and blending principles — a technique originally developed for the production of sherry and brandy.
The Solera technique, in which rums of various ages and characters are matured in select oak, enables MATUSALEM to craft products that are not only superior to other rums in Cuba, but are equal in quality and refinement to the finest spirits in the world. MATUSALEM produces various types of rum, including, Classico, Plantino, Gran Reserva 15, Gran Reserva 18 and Gran Reserva 23.
